Iran’s ‘Shouting at the Wind’ to open German festival

Iranian doc ‘Shouting at the Wind’ is to open the 2019 Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival in Germany.

Iranian documentary ‘Shouting at the Wind’ has been set to open the upcoming edition of the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival in Germany.

‘Shouting at the Wind’ will compete at the 36th edition of the German event which is scheduled for November.

The documentary’s participation at the Kassel festival will mark its first international appearance.

Co-directed by Siavash Jamali and Ata Mehrad, the social documentary is about an adolescent student living in Darvazeh Ghar district, who has been trying to become a singer for four years. But he faces many issues, including parental opposition and financial problems.

‘Shouting at the Wind’ won the Best Mid-length Documentary Prize at the 12th Cinema Verite, Iran’s International Documentary Film Festival.

The Kassel festival is organized by the Filmladen Kassel, an organization which is nationally acclaimed for its engaged work in the cinema every year, reads the festival’s website.

The 36th edition of the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival will take place on November 12-17, 2019.
